"You're beautiful. You're beautiful, it's true". I belted out the words to a pop song as I blow dried my hair. I wanted to look my very best on my prom night as I was to perform a couple of ballads. Everyone says that it's every girl's dream to go to her prom with the most popular guy in school. It was my dream too, and it almost came true. Almost.

"Charlene! Are you done yet? We're already half an hour late!" my boyfriend, Ash, shouted from the hallway. He was the most popular guy as school as he was captain of the track team.

"One more minute! So sorry!" I shouted back. I put on a coat of Louis Vuitton "Flirtatious Pink" lip gloss and sprited some Guerlain "Love Is All" perfume. When I was done, I took a step back and admired myself in the mirror. My hair was pulled back into a classy chignon, held in place with a jewelled chopstick hair accessory. At my neck was a single diamond on a white gold chain. My dress was red, short, slinky satin and backless teamed with four-inch heels and a clutch bag.

"Voila!" I said as I entered the hall and posed in my new outfit. I expected him to look happy and say "Wow!" like in the movies. Instead, I got a muffled grunt as he reminded me for the hundredth time that we were late.I was shocked that he would get so upset over this, but I decided not to comment , and hoped that his mood would lighten up once we were there.

As soon as I sat down in his brand new, red Mazda, he sped off. I had barely closed the door, let alone buckled my seat belt. I nervously watched the speedometer go from ninety to a hundred then to a hundred and ten kilometers per hour. We were going speed fast. I glanced at Ash and noticed his forehead was a furrow of concentration. Something was going to go terribly wrong.

"Ash, it's only 8:30. The party goes on till four! Slow down!" I pleaded.

"NO! It's your fault we're late! Just shut up!" he screamed.

"Ash! Look ou-"

Before I could finish, we had crashed into a car infront of us and somehow managed to fly sideways over the silver barriers at the side of the road. The last thing I remembered seeing was the look on Ash's face as the car swerved, flipped and landed with a bang.

The next time I saw something, it was a drip in the back of my hand. It took me a while to realise that I was in hospital. I felt dazed as I watched the men and women in white uniforms hustle back and forth. Suddenly, I remembered Ash. I looked left and right but he wasn't there . I started to panic. I could hear the pace of the beeping of the pulse monitor increase.

"Excuse me, nurse! There was a guy who was in an accident with me. Do you suppose I could see him? He's alright, isn't he? Tell me he is!" I cried.

The nurse said he was fine, and since I was only slightly injured, I was put in a wheelchair and brought to see him. I was so scared. Would he be angry? Would he even talk to me?
